A pizzeria website with online ordering
Most pizzeria guests already know what they want. The Margherita they always get. The large Diavola for movie night. What they need is a quick way to order, without being put on hold.
OwnGo builds you your own website with a menu and online ordering, in your pizzeria’s colours and on your own domain if you like. Guests order for pickup and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The money goes straight to you through your own Stripe account.
The guest’s card is only charged once your kitchen accepts the order. If you have to reject it, say because the oven is full, the guest pays nothing.
Sizes, toppings and allergens
A pizza menu is rarely simple. The system has to reflect how you actually sell.
- Sizes as variants: Small, large, family size. Each size has its own price, and the guest chooses when ordering.
- Extras: Extra toppings such as buffalo mozzarella, salami or rocket, each with a surcharge.
- Allergens: The 14 major allergens under the LMIV (EU food information regulation) are shown on every pizza. Gluten in the dough, milk in the cheese: the guest sees it before ordering.
- Availability: If a pizza runs out, you mark it as sold out in one click.
You change prices, categories, sizes and extras yourself in the admin. We take care of the initial setup: you send us your menu, and we enter everything.
Pickup at peak times
Friday night, the oven is going, the phone is ringing. That is exactly when orders get lost or noted down wrong. Online orders take some of that pressure off.
- Scheduled orders: Guests can order for a later time. Anyone who knows in the afternoon that they want pizza at 7:30 pm orders early.
- Loud alert: The kitchen panel announces every new order loudly, even when the kitchen is hectic.
- Countdown: A countdown shows how much time is left to accept the order.
- Pickup time set by the kitchen: Your kitchen decides when the pizza will be ready. So the system never promises more than the oven can deliver.
The kitchen panel runs in the browser on any tablet or phone. You don’t need any new devices, and your till stays as it is.
The advantage over the phone is in the details. Size, extras and requests are all in the order, so nobody has to ask again or spell anything out. The order is already paid once you accept it, so at the counter you just hand over the box. And when a pizza is sold out, it doesn’t appear on the menu as orderable in the first place.
Lunch deals and “Goes well with”
Your own website can help you sell, without you having to think about it every day.
- Scheduled offers: A weekday lunch deal or an early-evening happy hour. The offer starts and ends on its own.
- “Goes well with” in the cart: Anyone ordering a pizza is offered a drink or a tiramisu.
- Vouchers: For regulars, for example, or on a flyer.
- Table reservations: Guests book a table through the same website.
The menu comes in six languages: German, English, Turkish, Italian, Spanish and French. For a pizzeria with Italian roots, the Italian menu is often a nice touch.
Reference: Zia Maria in Berlin
Zia Maria is a pizzeria in Prenzlauer Berg. Guests already knew it. Today they order directly on its own website at prenzlauerberg.ziamariaberlin.de, with no commission.
- 76% of Google clicks come from searches for “Zia Maria”.
- +50% Google impressions in August compared with December.
- 3,600+ visits from Google search.
- More than €2,400 saved in commission.
The figures show what matters: guests search specifically for their pizzeria. That is why, at launch, we add the ordering link to your Google profile and give you a QR code for pizza boxes, flyers and tables. Read more about restaurants in the capital on the Berlin page.
What an ordering system for a pizzeria costs
OwnGo costs €49 a month on a 12-month contract, or €59 a month if you want to cancel monthly. Either way, you pay month by month. There is no commission per order, and setup is free. The only fee per card payment is Stripe’s, currently 1.5% + €0.25 for standard EEA cards.
How much that saves compared with commission depends on your orders. Work it out with your own figures in the commission calculator. Why many restaurants choose a fixed price and still stay on platforms is explained in the guide to online ordering without commission.
